摘要: IMPORTANCE Birth in areas with high infant mortality rates (IMRs) has been linked to worse long-term health outcomes, yet it is completely unknown if impacts dementia risk. METHODS In total 6268 care members were followed for diagnosis from 1996 2015. state IMRs 1928 ranked into quartile (worst range, whites: 69 129 deaths/1000 live births, Non-whites: 277 births). Cox proportional hazard models estimated the risk associated birth IMR adjusting demographics and lifecourse indicators. RESULTS Compared whites born outside of states worst quartile, African Americans had 92% increased (HR=1.92; 95% CI: 1.42, 2.59), those 36% (HR=1.36; 1.20, 1.53). There was no association between among whites. CONCLUSIONS highest elevated but not The large absolute difference likely reflects harsher early childhood conditions experienced by Americans. These findings suggest that may play a role racial disparities rates.
