摘要: Gambling disorder is classified in the DSM-5 as a behavioral addiction. However, inclusion of tolerance and withdrawal symptoms diagnostic criteria for remains poorly understood characterized by lack empirical support. While need increasing excitement considered central to concept gambling, alternative explanations phenomenon exist. Concomitantly, may not be limited neurobiological processes generating adverse subjective physiological arousal that contribute persistent gambling. Clarifying concepts functional role addiction process has significant implications accurate clinical assessment targeted treatment gambling disorders.
