摘要: Polypeptide growth factors are relatively small and stable molecules that communicate short range signals for cell fate determination. Unlike steroid hormones, which penetrate through the plasma membrane due to their hydrophobic character, these must bind a surface-localized receptor. In contrast multispan receptors neuropeptides chemical transmitters, factor transverse only once, cytoplasmic domains harbor tyrosine-specific catalytic activity, called protein tyrosine kinase. Ligand binding receptor kinase (RTK) initiates cascade of biochemical phenotypic events known as pleiotropic response. addition ion channels enzymes, cytoskeletal rearrangements, adhesive properties factor-stimulated also modified within seconds hours. This plethora surface culminates in regulation gene transcription, eventually leading alterations cellular behavior ranging from entry into cycle terminal differentiation (for specific example response see ref. 1).
