摘要: . Aim of the study. To examine frequency and adequacy thromboprophylaxis in acutely ill medical patients hospitalized eight Swiss hospitals. Methods. Results. Of patients, 542 (49.4%) received thromboprophylaxis. According to criteria, 644 (58.7%) should have been on prophylaxis (P < 0.001, when compared rate observed). prevention differed widely between (from 29.4 88.6%) no difference teaching nonteaching hospitals. a substantial proportion (44.9%) who treated not. Conversely, 41.3% unnecessarily treated. Conclusions. Even though appropriateness criteria used could be challenged, our data suggest that current practice is associated important uncertainty leading both overuse underuse wards. More efforts are urgently needed develop new or endorse existing explicit, evidence-based guidelines for this population patients.
