摘要: Ever since the discovery of neutron stars it has been realized that they serve as probes a physical regime cannot be accessed in laboratories: strongly degenerate matter at several times nuclear saturation density. Existing theories diverge widely their predictions about such matter. It could is primarily nucleons, but also possible exotic species hyperons, free quarks, condensates, or strange may dominate this regime. Astronomical observations cold high-density are necessarily indirect, which means we must rely on measurements quantities masses and radii surface effective temperatures function age. Here review current status constraints from various methods prospects for future improvements.
