Hybrid Architectures With Few-Bit ADC Receivers: Achievable Rates and Energy-Rate Tradeoffs

摘要: Hybrid analog/digital architectures and receivers with low-resolution analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) are two low power solutions for wireless systems large antenna arrays, such as millimeter wave massive multiple-input multiple-output systems. Most prior work represents extreme cases in which either a small number of radio frequency (RF) chains full-resolution ADCs, or ADC RF equal to the antennas is assumed. In this paper, generalized hybrid architecture finite bits proposed. For architecture, achievable rates channel inversion singular value decomposition-based transmission methods derived. Results show that rate comparable obtained by full-precision at medium SNRs. A trade-off between consumption different numbers devised. This enables us draw some conclusions on needed maximize system energy efficiency. Numerical simulations coarse quantization optimal under various configurations. means combining achieves better energy-rate compared both full-resolutions ADCs 1-bit combining.
