摘要: Abstract The damage tolerance of Carbon Fibre Reinforced Polymer (CFRP) to Barely Visible Impact Damage (BVID) is a critical design limiter for composite structures. This study investigated the key driving mechanisms and evolution compressive failure laminated composites containing BVID using compression after impact indentation (CAI) tests. Experiments were carried out on two similar quasi-isotropic laminates: [45 2 /90 /0 /−45 ] 2S [45/90/0/−45] 4S . Matrix cracking delaminations introduced by either low-velocity or quasi-static tests prior CAI full-field displacement during as well moment rupture was captured 3D Digital Image Correlation (DIC). effect ply-blocking influence factors, such energy, delamination area surface indentation, studied. Previously validated high-fidelity finite element (FE) numerical models events then used investigate failure.
