What does quality maternity care mean in a context of medical pluralism? Perspectives of women in Nigeria.

摘要: User priorities regarding quality care in contexts of medical pluralism are poorly documented. Drawing on group and individual interviews with women, we interrogate ideas maternity the context Nigeria's pluralism. We found complex utilization patterns for conventional, complementary alternative services as well that stress effective coordination integration different typologies health services; socially sensitive truthful providers; socioeconomic, physical parochial forms safety. Informal providers were commonly reported source maternal study. Maternal country also generally viewed poor quality, characterized by pervasive abuse, quackery lack commitment to needs sensitivities women. Convenience, availability affordability services, sociocultural factors major influences women's use services. Results demonstrate embeddedness notions vast socioeconomic inequities typify particular form regulated pluralism, raising need strategies strengthen delivery, supervision country.
