Surgical Advances in Nephroureterectomy: Laparoscopic and Robotic Approaches

摘要: Nephroureterecomy represents the gold standard in surgical treatment of upper urinary tract urothelial carcinoma (UUT-UC). UUT-UC a highly aggressive disease with poor survival once invasive and high recurrence rates if distal ureter bladder cuff remain place. This necessitates need for urologists to make every attempt remove diseased tissue. While basic principle nephroureterectomy surgery have remained same, advances technology allowed surgeons develop new ways deal most challenging aspect performing this surgery, removal cuff. Despite multitude techniques ureter, surgeon preference patient specifics provide best tools planning. Currently, minimally such as endoscopic resection ureteral orifice, laparoscopy, robotic-assisted surgeries been developed goal reducing postoperative pain, hospitalizations, perioperative complications while still providing excellent cancer control. Finally, modalities, preoperative chemotherapy, shown promise lower but current studies lack data from prospective trials it care.
