Heroes, Teams, and Teachers: A Study of Leadership for Change.

摘要: Research on leadership for change should focus more what leaders do and less who the key are. This study identifies a set of functions, including providing selling vision change, obtaining resources, encouragement recognition, adapting standard operating procedures, monitoring improvement effort, handling disturbances. A program implementation in eight schools--four that successfully institutionalized an innovation, three only it token form, one among subset teachers--suggests these functions contribute to are performed by teams, central office, principal, teachers, outside consultants. In fully schools, principal served as "head cheerleader," encouraging teachers after observations, during planning meetings, through positive demeanor toward program. Analysis specific showed contributed sustained Social Problem Solving (the innovation), encouraged their peers, informal monitors. However, could not provide programmatic resources lacked formal mechanism contributing curriculum standardization decisions. There was no critical leader process. Change team enterprise, work single hero. Teachers need further opportunities. (Contains 41 references.)
