摘要: Boscia senegalensis is a drought resistant shrub whose seeds are used in West Africa as food. However, the seeds, or hanza, taste bitter which can be cured by soaking them water for 4-7 days. The waste resulting from processing takes up taste, makes it unsuitable consumption. When irrigation, allelopathic effects were observed. Glucosinolates and their breakdown products potential causes both effects. objectives of this study to identify quantify glucosinolates present processed unprocessed hanza well different organs B. senegalensis, analyze chemical composition water, pinpoint causal agent properties water. Hanza (seeds without testa), leaves, branches, unripe ripe fruits collected three populations subjected glucosinolate analyses. Methylglucosinolates identified all plant parts populations, with highest concentrations being found hanza. levels methylglucosinolates reduced significantly during process. Waste was 6 days contained large amounts macro- micronutrients, methylglucosinolate methylisothiocyanate, conversion glucosinolates. 1-3 (High) 4-6 (Low) pooled 11 crops weeds. High treatment delayed germination species tested. Using similar methylisothiocyanate detected we that subset inhibited equally treatments. This confirmed methylisiothiocyanate sufficient cause effect. leads possibility using weed control programs.
