摘要: An investigation of a new method for measuring fibre material properties from ultrasonic attenuation in dilute suspension synthetic fibres uniform geometry is presented. The based on inversely solving an ultrasound scattering and absorption model suspended water the fibres. Experimental results were obtained three suspensions nylon 66 each with different diameters. A forward solution to reference values compared experimental data verify model's behaviour. Estimates shear Young's modulus, compressional wave velocity, Poisson's ratio loss tangent are available other sources. confirms that successfully predicts resonance features frequency response function diameter. Consistent estimated velocity found be difficult obtain but combination gave modulus within previously reported low sensitivity noise. was underestimated by 54% consistent had underestimation believed caused assumption isotropic used model. Additional tests would confirm this. Further analysis reasons required.
