摘要: Aims The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence and potential risk factors associated with Chlamydia psittaci infections in psittacine birds bird handlers Egypt. Methods results A total 190 swabs were collected from (n = 120) 70) tested by polymerase chain reaction detect C. ompA gene. DNA detected 63 (52·5%) 120 samples birds. occurrence high Cockatiel (60%), followed Fischer's lovebird (51%) Rosy-faced (47·5%). Bird age, location (pet markets households), housing (caged aviary), sampling season considered significant for Of 70 sputum handlers, only 4 (6%) positive psittaci. Positive cases closely older persons (≥30 years) who had respiratory signs handled pet markets. Further, wearing protective gloves washing hands when handling decreased frequency handlers. Conclusions Egypt is high, which has a threat human health area. Thus, dissemination effective prevention control measures essential prevent spread among birds, as well humans contact Significance impact Results highlighted will aid developing reduce infection.
