摘要: Summary Utilization by elephants of the trees Brachystegia woodlands Kasungu National Park, Malawi, was investigated. Of forty-one common species thirtyfive were eaten, which thirteen selected elephants. The chemical composition leaf material analysed and a significant correlation found between utilization certain protein sodium content, whereas crude fibre content showed no but in general appeared to be relatively low highly favoured species. pushing over uprooting appear part feeding strategy improves availability food for during dry season. number browsed increased with an increasing tree density up 300 ha-1, where browsing intensity remained constant both non-selected reasons why is hardly affected elephant use are briefly discussed.
