Influence of Photoperiod Duration on Fecal Androgen Content in Migratory Reed Bunting Emberiza schoeniclus and Non-migratory Meadow Bunting Emberiza cioides Males

摘要: Fecal androgen levels of migratory reed bunting Emberiza schoeniclus and non-migratory meadow cioides males were measured by radioimmunoassay after extraction with ether.When the photoperiod conditions changed stepwise from 10 h light/14 darkness (LD 10:14) to LD 15:9, in fecal contents increased significantly at 12:12, these relative high maintained 14:10.The resulting similar those nocturnal restlessness.On other hand, no significant change was observed bunting.The content would reflect circulating plasma, as has been reported for Japanese Quail.It suggested that may be an endocrine regulator vernal migration.Thus, involved control migration bunting.
