In Indian outbreak, aegypti vector, 1 400 cases chikungunya were reported 2006. reasons re-emergence on subcontinent, its unprecedented incidence rate Ocean region, unclear. Plausible explanations include increased tourism, introduction into naive population, viral mutation.
