Using Landmarks to Support Older People in Navigation

摘要: Although landmarks are an integral aspect of navigation, they have rarely been used within electronic navigation aids. This paper describes the design a pedestrian aid for handheld computer, which guides user along route using photographs landmarks, together with audio and text instructions that reference these landmarks. was designed older users in mind who often find their mobility hampered by declines sensory, cognitive motor abilities. It tested against standard map test area both younger people performance subjective workload were measured. The results show such can significantly outperform paper-based derive substantially more benefit from it than do people.
