摘要: Yields of sugar and responses to fertilizers were determined in about 400 fertilizer experiments on farms throughout the sugar-beet growing areas Britain during 14 years from 1957 1970. The soil at each experimental site was described classified records have been examined determine which properties influence yield. effect year, rainfall, elevation, region other factors such as sowing harvesting date also investigated.Year-to-year variation accounted for 20 % all yield; increasing amounts rainfall season appeared decrease There a significant long-term trend yield 0·042 t/ha/year. yields closely followed national year but always greater. Delay early depressed by 0–02 0·01 t sugar/ ha/day respectively. Scotland (average 5·23 t/ha) approximately 1·4 t/ha less than England Wales, there no evident regional differences within Wales.Soil regarded moderately drained yielded better either well-drained or imperfectly soil, turn droughty poorly soil. difference adjusted between drainage classes 1·0 t/ha. Surprisingly, topsoil texture had consistent mean (as distinct response fertilizer). Subsoil texture, however, an appreciable effect, crop sandy subsoil chalk limestone yielding whilst that silt peat best. range due almost 2 t/ha.Yields relation profile type. Broad division into major groups gave meaningful fine series only useful 11 least ten made. most gleyed calcareous soils, peats humic gleys, rendzinas brown soils. Responses nitrogen potassium not phosphorus affected both texture. Nitrogen increased soils silts peats. The morphology, chemical physical condition clearly affect greatly further research is needed planned specifically measure their provide more precise guidance selecting best land crop.
