摘要: Statistical properties of natural signals is an important factor in forming neuronal selectivities brain sensory system. One such property the redundancy visual and auditory inputs to brain. In this paper, we introduce concept class specific redundancies images propose that selectivity neurons extrastriate areas developed reveal these redundancies. each area, a reduction mechanism removes revealed provide more efficient representation input image. To test hypothesis, implemented model area V2 trained with set images. Experiments on artificial stimulus sets show close similarity real their preference for coding object contours over textures.
