摘要: Serotonin (5-hydroxytryptamine; 5-HT) has been implicated in a large number of psychophysiologic processes including the regulation sleep, appetite, mood, aggression, perception, memory, and anxiety. To mediate this array physiologic processes, at least 14 separate 5-HT receptors have evolved, which are divided into seven main families. Not surprisingly, alterations receptor activity shown to occur many psychiatric diseases anxiety, depression, eating disorders, schizophrenia, personality drug-induced psychotic states. Additionally, effective psychopharmacologic agents for as diverse schizophrenia anxiety developed either specifically alter brain levels serotonin or bind subtypes. This review article summarizes recent advances burgeoning field pharmacology integrates information coherent perspective on importance serotonergic clinical psychiatry.
