摘要: Architectural barriers in public settings reduce accessibility for those with disabilities. This diminishes community participation, ability independent living, and equality of opportunity. City street corners are commonly used areas pedestrian traffic, but little research has been done to determine their level people The objective this study is the wheelchair at a sample Halifax region. Seventy nine ramps were investigated characteristics collected. These included ramp width, slope, height lip, slope road leading up ramp. Each was also graded 3-point scale based on access crosswalk, presence potholes or large cracks, drainage grates. Only 2.5 per cent met all four measures three criteria. results demonstrated failure fully meet standards. suggests need better compliance, increased training skills necessary users overcome these architectural barriers.
