摘要: We have compared the echolocation and feeding behaviours of Myotis lucifugus, M. californicus, volans, auriculus based on observations recordings bats in field. lucifugus californicus appeared to detect prey at close range (≤ 1 m) regularly made several attempts capture insects over short distances; both used similar frequency-modulated calls. volans detected greater distances (5–10 m), only one attempt per pass through a area, an call with distinct constant-frequency component. fed mainly resting insects, mostly moths. The calls this species were shorter duration, lower intensity, broader frequency higher maximum energy, showed initial upward sweep relative other we studied. did not increase their pulse repetition rate as they closed stationary prey...
