摘要: Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a ubiquitous but heterogeneous characterized by abdominal pain and erratic habits that affects 5% to 10% of the population. Although current definitions specify there are no structural or biochemical abnormalities account for symptoms, growing evidence in at least subset IBS patients, low-grade inflammation increased T lymphocytes mast cells. Whether this cause effect uncertain, as also clear bidirectional communication between immune nervous systems, some mucosal changes could be secondary psychological stress. A small percentage (6%–17%) patients develop symptoms first time after an acute episode infective gastroenteritis (postinfective IBS), which appears directly responsible activation. However, even group, preexisting factors important ones. Specific anti-inflammatory treatments have not been systematically evaluated, benefit currently.
