摘要: Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been suggested to be responsible for tumor re-growth and relapse. Physiological morphological knowledge of CSCs may essential the development new therapeutic strategies targeting cancer development, progression, recurrence. Current research is focused on a deeper understanding metabolic profiles, taking into consideration their energy demands. Energy metabolism mitochondrial function are important factors operating stemness maintenance cell fate specification. Due role mitochondria as central hubs in overall death survival pathways, physiology paramount importance decipher mechanisms underlying therapy-resistant phenotype. In this review, we focus biology mitochondria-related signaling pathways that contribute maintenance, thereby representing possible targets.
