Presentations to the Emergency Department Following Cannabis use--a Multi-Centre Case Series from Ten European Countries.

摘要: Cannabis is the most commonly used illicit drug in Europe, and generally regarded as having low acute toxicity. We present findings of first 6 months data collection from Euro-DEN project on presentations related to cannabis use further understand toxicity cannabis. Data was extracted clinical features, treatment outcome minimum dataset for all cases recreational reported 1st October 2013 31st March 2014 cannabis-related presentations. Of 2198 by 14 16 centres, 356 (16.2 %) involved either alone or together with other drugs/alcohol. There were 36 that lone (1.6 % presentations). 35 non-fatal presentations, features neuro-behavioural (agitation/aggression 8 (22.9 %), psychosis 7 (20.0 anxiety %)) vomiting (17.1 %). Most patients (25, 71.4 received no 30 (85.7 discharged/self-discharged ED. one fatality amongst these lone-cannabis cases: an 18-year-old male collapsed asystolic cardiac arrest whilst smoking suffered hypoxic brain injury prolonged arrest. THC detected a urine sample taken at ED arrival; drugs detected. Lone typically associated symptoms vomiting. Although uncommon, severe including cardiovascular death may be under-recognised, it important Emergency Physicians are aware this.
