摘要: Objective To determine the normal values and repeatability for Schirmer tear test (STT) in clinically dromedary camels to analyze influence of age gender on these values. Animals studied Thirty different ages (calves, immature, mature). Procedures Schirmer tests I II were performed using commercial STT strips. Three measurements obtained from each eye over three consecutive weeks, variance was determined. Results Mean coefficient variation right left eyes varied significantly among camel groups (P 14–18, > 22–26, >30–34 mm/min calves, immature camels, mature respectively. For II, however, most frequently recorded 7–14, >10–18, >26–30 mm/min, The interassay coefficients 1.7–14.4% lower than calves < 0.05). Age positively correlated with (r = 0.81) 0.88). No significant variations found between genders. Conclusions This preliminary study reports camels. This information may assist veterinary practitioners complete ophthalmic examinations accurate diagnosis ocular surface diseases affecting film this species.
