Open heart surgery: preliminary report of blood transfusion practice and haematological changes. Experience from a Nigerian tertiary teaching hospital.

摘要: Aims and objectives The study aimed at reviewing the utilisation of blood / products haematological profile changes, with a view to developing hospital transfusion guideline in open heart surgery Nigeria. Materials methods surgeries were performed intensive care unit theatre Lagos State University Teaching Hospital. Eligibility for was determined by Cardiologist cardiovascular Surgeon based on clinical presentation, electro- echocardiography assessments among other tests. Fourteen open-heart conducted. Conclusion It appears that requirement most aside from repair, is minimal. Patients ASD repair should be evaluated possible autologous transfusion.
