摘要: Nutraceuticals and functional foods have attracted considerable interest as potential alternative therapies for treatment of different cardiovascular disorders insulin resistance. We evaluated the efficacy a combination Berberis Aristata/Silybum Marianum extract (Berberol®) in sample overweight, dyslipidemic patients at low risk. enrolled 105 Caucasian, euglycemic, patients, either sex. At baseline all underwent 6 months run-in period during which they followed an adequate diet practiced physical activity. end period, were randomised to take placebo or aristata/Silybum marianum, 1 tablet lunch dinner, three months, double-blind, placebo-controlled design. marianum then interrupted 2 (wash-out period), continued with only wash-out re-started twice day further 3 months. randomisation, before after these parameters: body weight BMI, fasting plasma glucose, lipid profile, resistance, retinol binding protein-4 (RBP-4), adiponectin (ADN), resistin. Total cholesterol, LDL-C, Tg decreased, HDL-C increase both compared placebo. decreased insulin, HOMA-IR, Moreover, there was decrease RBP-4, resistin, ADN marianum. All positive effects disappeared re-appeared re-introduction drug. observed significant correlation between HOMA-index RBP-4 decrease, group, but not group. fixed seems be safe effective improving also resistance adipocytokines levels.
