摘要: Skin pigment pattern formation is a paradigmatic example of formation. In zebrafish, the adult body stripes are generated by coordinated rearrangement three distinct cell-types, black melanocytes, shiny iridophores and yellow xanthophores. A stem cell origin melanocytes has been proposed although potency those cells remained unclear. Xanthophores, however, seemed to originate predominantly from proliferation embryonic Now, data Singh et al. shows that all cell-types derive shared cells, these generate peripheral neural too. Furthermore, clonal compositions best explained progressive fate restriction model generating individual cell-types. The numbers associated with dorsal root ganglia remain low, but progenitor increase significantly during larval development up metamorphosis, likely via production partially restricted progenitors on spinal nerves.
