摘要: Abstract In Catalonia (Spain), a variety of different systems have been built to naturally treat liquid residues from small communities. Some these wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) include constructed wetlands with horizontal subsurface flow (HSSF) as secondary treatment. The present study described and characterized the performance 11 WWTPs HSSF wetland after an initial operating period 8 years. effluent concentrations Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD 5 ), Total Suspended Solids (TSS), Nitrogen (TN) Phosphorous (TP) were statistically analyzed, removal efficiencies for all including stages in calculated. accumulated probability functions those parameters evaluated determine influence two types polishing units on overall performance: (a) only lagoon (b) HSSF. statistical analysis indicates good BOD TSS. first case, mean below 25 mg/L found 9 analyzed between 78 96% observed. second 35 mg/L plants, 65 88%. For nutrients, efficiency TN TP range 48–66% 39–58%, respectively. Additionally, did not show significant improvement ( α > 0.05) any parameter without subsequent unit. However, unit HSSF, , but no contribution TSS management.
