摘要: The hypothalamic-pituitary-thyroid (HPT) axis functions abnormally in man and animals chronically exposed to ethanol. most consistent observation humans is that the thyrotropin response thyrotropin-releasing hormone (TRH) blunted. We have tested hypothesis chronic ethanol treatment rats leads a diminished responsiveness of hypothalamus central stimulation. Animals were maintained on 1 3 diets for 4 weeks: (1) laboratory chow water provided ad libitum (chow-fed), (2) Sustacal chocolate liquid diet with vitamin mixture containing 5% (w/v) (ethanol), or (3) sucrose substituted isocalorically (35%) amounts matched weight-paired, ethanol-treated animal (pair-fed). At end weeks, evaluated their single injection (3 g/kg, ip) and/or exposure 5 degrees C. Chronic produced an increase TRH mRNA neurons paraventricular nucleus fully blocked thyrotropic cold exposure. However, did not exhibit altered basal levels triiodothyronine thyrotropin, nor they These data demonstrate alcohol alters functioning at least part by affecting nucleus.
