摘要: Abstract Spins in magnetic nanostructures can be excited by an electric current. In the inelastic scattering events, spin of a tunneling electron provided scanning microscope may flipped and angular momentum is transferred to system. We used this technique determine anisotropies exchange couplings 3d transition 4f rare earth metal atoms clusters on surfaces. Further, we discuss that anisotropy, i.e. zero field splitting, requires fully relativistic description, which not only but also their orbital taken into account. When describing anisotropy with Hamiltonian including all Stevens operators combining it flip conduction electrons, find long lifetimes are theoretically expected for specific total momenta crystal symmetries show experimental evidence such situation realized Ho Pt(111).
