The Effect of Marital Disruption on Child's Attachment to Parents

摘要: Using data from a sample of 2135 midwestern college students, this article examines the consequences marital disruption on child-parent attachment. Among factors considered in analysis are death versus divorce, amount conflict intact and divorced homes, sex custodial parent, parent's remarriage, relationships with stepparents. The results show that does not reduce child's attachment to parent. Divorce noncustodial however, thus reduces total affectional network. This pattern is particularly problematic father-custody homes.
