摘要: Handleyomys chapmani (Chapman’s Handley’s mouse) is a Mexican endemic rodent inhabiting humid montane forest of the Sierra Madre Oriental (SMO), Oaxacan Highlands (OH), and del Sur (SMS). The systematic status populations currently classified as H. has been problematic to date evolutionary relationships among remain unresolved. In this study we use sequences from mitochondrial cytochrome-b gene (1,143 base pairs [bp]) intron 7 beta fibrinogen (621 bp) reconstruct phylogeny, estimate divergence times, assess patterns sequence variation over geography samples chapmani. This species was recovered 2 monophyletic clades corresponding SMO-OH SMS mountain ranges. Moreover, saturatior, purported sister taxon chapmani, consistently lineage clade, rendering paraphyletic. geographic distribution saturatior strongly correlate with extent SMO-OH, SMS, Trans-Isthmian (highlands east Isthmus Tehuantepec through Central America) Divergence times associate their isolation late Pleistocene climatic
