摘要: Recent work on conditional reasoning argues that denying the antecedent [DA] and affirming consequent [AC] are defeasible but cogent patterns of argument, either because they effective, rational, albeit heuristic applications Bayesian probability, or licensed by principle total evidence. Against this, we show any prevailing interpretation indicative conditionals, premises DA AC arguments do not license their conclusions without additional assumptions. The cogency inferences rather depends contingent factors extrinsic to, independent of, what is asserted arguments.
