STUDY DESIGN: FNA from 12 patients were reviewed, and percentage cases showing TRC was established. The staining properties evaluated as well spontaneous fluorescence under ultraviolet (UV) light. RESULTS : Of adenomas, 4 showed (30%) smears. Among eight cytologically negative there two that a few TRCs on histology. All positive African American patients. stained weakly with Papanicolaou stain. deep blue Diff-Quik. They fluoresced UV CONCLUSION: could be detected specimens. best seen technique very pale, making them difficult to see. Diff-Quik dark blue, mimicking deposits dye. amount histology paralleled detection rate cytology.
