摘要: Abstract The activity of descending stairs increases loading at the joints lower extremities as compared to walking, which may cause discomfort and or difficulties in completing task. This study contrasted kinematics kinetics both forwards backwards stair descent those level walking. We support moments moment powers limb while a self-selected pace, pace same backwards. Participants were 10 healthy young adults (6 men 4 women) aged 20–35 years. Sagittal plane ground reaction forces collected force computed using inverse dynamics. ratio stance/swing phase changed from 59:41 for normal walking between 65:35 70:30 forward but was 58:42. Stair produced larger double-peak with reduced ankle plantar flexor increased knee extensor (>±95th-percentile confidence interval). hip during relatively small highly variable. observed significantly distances centres pressure edges versus descent. These results demonstrate that descent, even slower requires greater power extensors than peak midstance provided potentially safer means
