摘要: Our world is getting smarter: smart homes, cities, grids, vehicles and logistics, cloud computing, crowdsourcing. Many solutions are today designed in a “Green IT” context proposed with the intention to contribute environmental or social sustainability. Such claims include, for example, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, saving energy, finding most sustainable alternative decision situation, optimising process regard sustainability criteria, enabling participation poverty. However, it difficult determine whether potential net benefit of solution will materialize under real-world conditions, particular when considering dynamics markets, possible rebound effects other systemic effects. "Smarter" does not necessarily imply "more sustainable". The First International Conference Information Communication Technologies Sustainability (ICT4S), held Zurich on February 14-16, 2013, gathered more than 200 researchers makers from 50 countries exchange their insights about an effective contribution ICT development. papers presented at conference contained this volume.
