Observation of a diffractive contribution to dijet production in proton-proton collisions at √s=7 TeV

摘要: The cross section for dijet production in proton-proton collisions at √s=7  TeV is presented as a function of ξ˜, variable that approximates the fractional momentum loss scattered proton single-diffractive events. analysis based on an integrated luminosity 2.7  nb-1 collected with CMS detector LHC low instantaneous luminosities, and uses events jet transverse least 20 GeV. results are compared to predictions diffractive nondiffractive models. low-ξ˜ data show significant contribution from production, observed first time LHC. associated rapidity gap survival probability estimated.
