Communication patterns for a classroom public digital backchannel

摘要: Digital backchannels have become an increasingly important field of study for researchers investigating educational technologies. We designed and deployed one such backchannel integrated with a public display -- ClassCommons in 15-week that took place university classroom. extracted analyzed the communication patterns emerged use ClassCommons. In this paper, we these data to address following research questions: how do students appropriate digital classrooms, what are typical classroom backchannels, if at all students' participation evolve over extended period time characteristics messages get more responses from other students?
