Thermochemical energy storage by consecutive reactions for higher efficient concentrated solar power plants (CSP): Proof of concept

摘要: Concentrated solar power plants (CSP) combined with thermal energy storage (TES) offers the benefit to provide continuous electricity production by renewable feed. There are several TES technologies be implemented, being thermochemical less studied and most attractive since its volumetric density is 5 10 times higher than latent sensible TES, respectively. Thermochemical technology based on reversible chemical reactions, also named materials (TCM). One of main challenges TCM achieve a proper reversibility which in practical conditions leads lower efficiencies theoretically expected. A new concept changing from reactions towards consecutive aims eliminate problems therefore improve overall efficiency. Consecutive can either one cycle, where reactants needed feed reaction, or two coupled cycles offer possibility work without any extra mass input. The plausibility implementation both concepts CSP detailed this paper case studies described for each one.
