摘要: Abstract It has long been recognized that modulation of the immune system by various agents may have potential for management certain infections and neoplastic diseases. Both natural products as well chemically synthesized compounds investigated immunotherapeutic potential. Over years, conflicting reports on clinical efficacy these left early promise immunotherapy unfulfilled. However, manipulation to generate a desired effect is becoming feasible mechanisms which regulate network are better understood. Much work concentrated development immunopotentiators, enhance host's own against cancer cells or infectious pathogens. Furthermore, with subunit and/or synthetic vaccines, often weakly immunogenic, importance developing capable acting adjuvants became apparent. As result, utility immunopotentiators now extended area vaccines. There number reviews available immunomodulators [see Fenichel, R. L. Chirigos, M.A. (eds) (1984), Immune Modulation Agents Their Mechanisms , Marcel Dekker, New York]. The purpose this article provide an update low molecular weight potentiating immunological network. Attention will be given those undergone significant in areas cancer, diseases vaccination over past several years. These categorized whether they naturally occurring synthesized.
