摘要: The tonsillar microflora of 262 patients with recurrent acute tonsillitis studied in 1989-1990 is presented. patient population was divided into three age groups to determine any age-related features. One-hundred and forty-nine (57%) were the 2-7-year-old group, 72 (28%) 8-14-year-old remaining 41 (15%) over 15 years age. H. influenzae single most common bacterium isolated from centre tonsil (referred as 'tonsil core'), this more prevalent group. Staph aureus next commonly frequently seen group (29%). Anaerobic bacteriology performed 120 patients. Strict anaerobic species significant numbers core 5% but present superficial culture all. Anaerobes moderate heavy 32% swabs overall older groups. Mixed pathogens found throughout all at 46%. commonest mixture aureus. Normal flora only swab rarely core. number specimens containing a beta-lactamase producer assessed for each group; similar ranging 43% 53% 39% greater than 15-year-old
