Estimation of direct and maternal genetic (co) variances for survival within litters of piglets

摘要: Abstract Variation in piglets weaned per sow year is the main factor explaining differences income between piglet producers. This parameter result of prolificacy sows and survival rate piglets. Data on 54500 born 1988 1994 at four nucleus breeding units a pig organization were used an analysis survival. Animals from two different dam lines. Piglet until weaning was considered management aimed 28 days age. Variance covariance components obtained using mixed models which included direct genetic maternal effects. In addition, model sex, breed, parity herd-year-season as fixed effect, birth weight covariable permanent environmental effect. Bayesian analysis, implemented Gibbs sampling, to estimate effects parameters. Heritability 0.11 (±0.01) 0.09 (±0.01), respectively, full model. Genetic correlation —0.56 (±0.06). Consequences excluding or studied. Based presented results it concluded that simultaneous selection merit offers opportunity increase
