Verbal behaviours (utterances) were coded 2018-2019 using Cue Utilization Engagement Dementia video-coding scheme, addressing eight positive four negative behaviours. Bivariate analyses multivariate regression models used. Results Staff spoke three times more frequently (76.5%) than (23.5%). Nearly all utterances (99.2%); 85.1% residents' 14.9% negative. correlated their utterances. Resident correlated. significantly associated care-giving length current home (OR = 1.430, 95% CI 1.008, 2.027). gender (female versus male, OR 11.892, 1.237, 114.289) years worked as caregiver 0.838, 0.710, 0.989). not any participant Conclusions engage primarily strategies. Staff-resident dynamic, interactive, complex related to multiple individual Impact Positive are critical eating. Little work has characterized interactions, limiting development effective interventions. Findings showed staff-resident positive, inter-related, inform directions improve care practice develop person-centred interventions targeting modifiable factors, including experiences.
