Control measures include: (i) cultural techniques crop sanitation, destruction residues, as well close seasons rotation; (ii) chemical seed treatments foliar sprays; (iii) breeding resistant varieties. 4. Techniques described for varieties, sources useful genetic plant resistance identified. 5. The complex nature interactions between host resistance, variation in pathogen environment emphasized. 6. Successful resistance-breeding programmes Africa USA reviewed, attention drawn to pressing need varieties India Pakistan. 7.
