摘要: Abstract Because of their significant retention capability, clay minerals have been proposed as a potential engineered barrier in high level nuclear radioactive waste disposal repositories. Smectite-rich natural is being considered backfill and buffer material for the Indian repository program. In present study sorption Am by clay, from granitic ground water, has investigated. To identify controlling process, adsorption isotherm Eu(III), chemical analogue Am(III), was determined on montmorillonite–kaolinite mixtures having 0–20 wt% kaolinite. The effect experimental parameters, such as, pH, ionic strength, presence cation anions Am(III) further investigated to develop model clay. Overlapping isotherms Eu(III) obtained different suspensions established montmorillonite main sorbent Eu/Am(III) Americium(III) increases with pH three distinct stages: at lower values ( 8). Decreasing strength pH NO 3 - ) does not affect under water conditions. However, profile Ca(II)-equilibrated differs that Na-equilibrated corroborating weaker exchange Ca(II)–Am(III) comparison Na(I)–Am(III). SO 4 2 system lowers values. Modeling data indicated participation containing surface species. thermodynamic developed onto checked 6.1. simulates metal ion concentration while there deviation higher concentration.
