摘要: Response to mechanical stimuli is a fundamental and critical ability for living cells survive in hazardous conditions or form adaptive functional structures against force(s) from the environment. Although this has been extensively studied by molecular biology strategies, it also important investigate viewpoint of biological rhythm phenomena so as reveal mechanisms that underlie these phenomena. Here, we use plasmodium true slime mold Physarum polycephalum experimental system investigating ability. The was repetitively stretched various periods during which its locomotion speed observed. Since inherent oscillation cycles protoplasmic streaming thickness variation, how responds external stretching can shed light on other results show exhibits response periodic stimulation changes depending period stimuli.
