摘要: Our current knowledge of the role astrocytes in health and disease states supports view that many physiological brain functions neurological diseases are finely tuned, certain cases fully determined, by continuous cross-talk between neurons. This novel way interpreting activity as a dynamic reciprocal interplay astrocytic neuronal networks has also influenced our understanding epilepsy, not only forcing reinterpretation old findings, but being catalyst for experimentation. In this review, we summarize some recent studies highlight these distinct contributions to expression convulsive non-convulsive epileptiform discharges seizures. The emerging picture suggests general framework based on bilateral signalling neurons fuller epileptogenic epileptic mechanisms network. Astrocytes potentially represent targets development those chemical entities with improved efficacy treatment epilepsy expert groups have recognized one key priorities management epilepsy.
