摘要: Keith, David A. and Bedward, Michael, (NSW National Parks Wildlife Service, PO Box 1967, Hurstville NSW Australia 2220) 1999. Native vegetation of the South East Forests region, Eden New Wales. Cunninghamia 6(1): 001‐218. Terrestrial, freshwater estuarine native region was classified into 79 floristic assemblages mapped at 1: 100 000 scale. Assemblages were derived from multivariate analysis 1604 quantitative samples. Mapping carried out using a hybrid decision tree-expert system approach based on relationships between spatial variables (land cover pattern, substrate, climatic terrain variables) qualitative expert knowledge field experience. The use vegetationenvironment sampling remnants allowed prediction patterns prior to European clearing. map validated three procedures: checking by experts; reliability mapping intensity; accuracy quantification independent sample data. units described comprehensive profiles diagnostic species, structural features, habitat characteristics distributions. include rainforests, mesic eucalypt forests, dry grassy forests coastal rainshadow valleys, hinterland tableland, shrubby grasslands, heathlands, scrubs wetlands. Variation in climate geological substrate influence regional scales, while variation topography, local soil moisture nutrient status disturbance regimes scales. Sixty-eight per cent retained 1994. Processes threatening various portions remainder further loss clearing, high-frequency disturbances certain other regimes, overgrazing, degradation due nutrification, dumping vandalism, feral animal activity. Past depletion has been highly biased. Some fertile flat are depleted more than 90%, some with understories steep infertile retain close their original extent. former distributed principally as privately owned land, latter occur remote areas public land. Representation conservation reserves is also biased against terrain, well restricted Opportunities for these now very limited rely integrated planning, reservation cooperative management emphasis private 1
